Our Story
At Seeded Faith Farm Rescue (SFFR) in Lapeer County, Michigan, we are dedicated to providing humane shelter and care for equines and other farm animals in need. We believe that every animal deserves a chance at a happy and healthy life, and we are committed to making a positive difference in their lives.
SFFR was founded in 2020 by Melissa, Darin, and their children, inspired by the rescue of a senior, special needs horse named Pumpkin. When Pumpkin came to us, we learned that she was 34 years old, partially blind, and suffering from neurological issues. Despite the love and care we provided, Pumpkin’s condition worsened and she began to suffer Grand mal seizures. After 11 months with us, we made the difficult decision to humanely euthanize her. Pumpkin’s time with us was a reminder of the importance of providing love and care to all animals, regardless of their age or abilities.
In 2021, SFFR became an established non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, operated by the family and a dedicated group of board members. Melissa, Calista, and Chloe founded the organization, with strong support from Seth, Darin, Donald, Chris, Elijah, and the other board members. In addition to horses, we also provide a home for goats, donkeys, pigs, and roosters, and are committed to rescuing animals from difficult circumstances and giving them the resources and support they need to thrive.
At SFFR, we are committed to providing the highest quality of care to the animals in our care. Our team of dedicated and compassionate caregivers work to ensure that every animal receives the attention, medical care, and basic necessities they need to thrive. We also believe in the importance of education and outreach, and we strive to raise awareness about the importance of humane treatment of animals and the role that each of us can play in making a positive difference in their lives.
We are grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of these animals, and we are thankful for the support of our donors, volunteers, and supporters, who make it possible for us to continue our important work.
